You name it and the Australians no doubt grow it, make it, blend it with something else, and give it an odd bin number.  Australian wines have been hot for 3 years and not just in America.  The combination of quality and value make them popular in towns from London to New York.  Australia, like California, and Alsace in France, labels its wine after the grape it is made from.  All the major grape varietals are used here, and amazingly, great wines are turned out from all of them.

The best thing for consumers to do is memorize the names of some of the better producers and restrict their initial purchases to the surefire successes usually Chardonnay, Cabernet. and Shiraz.
